my Korean mom on her first psilocybin mushroom journey

I'm not sure where to begin so I'll just begin.
This has been a long time coming. So it feels like a big moment. My mom and I have been in conversation about psilocybin mushrooms for over two years now. I brought it up every once in a while because I wanted to her to find healing and stop suffering.
I'll never forget the first time I told her I was taking psilocybin mushrooms to heal. She asked me, seriously concerned, "Are you OK? Are you hurting that bad? Do you really need to be taking drugs?" Valid. She was worried that her daughter was relying on drugs and possibly getting addicted to them. For all she knew, psilocybin mushrooms was like marijuana or heroin, both of which are illegal in South Korea, a country that has one of the strictest drug policies in the world. So it makes sense why she was so resistant and hesitant to give psilocybin mushrooms a try.
But I was determined to at least change her mind about what psilocybin mushrooms are. I wanted her to understand that they were not dangerous nor harmful. I wanted her to understand that they can facilitate deep healing. After all, psilocybin mushrooms do grow in South Korea...
I proceeded to send her articles and research papers and videos to hopefully expand her perspective on this medicine. It took a lot of patience on my end. Slowly, I felt that she was beginning to understand what this medicine was about, and eventually, she seemed open to the idea of a journey. Later my mom admitted that the only reason she agreed/felt safe enough was because it was me who was facilitating.
We spent the days leading up to the journey talking about what to expect, intentions, and safety protocols. The actual journey itself was not filmed, for obvious reasons. (Feel free to reach out to me if you're curious about dose & strain.) The first 48 hours after the journey was spent on the road, outdoors, camping, hiking, and exploring Crested Butte.
Maybe one day, my mom will want to share what her actual journey was about. It was pretty incredible, to say the least.
As for me, it was very healing to witness my mom's journey. And it goes without saying that I was elated when she told me that she received confirmation that her psoriasis would be completely healed. The mushrooms never fail to amaze me.
Feeling grateful for the fantastic fungi. Feeling grateful for my mom. Feeling grateful for my partner Alan, who so beautifully held sacred space.
Thank you for being a part of this her-story.
